Alappuzha Beach:
The beach here is a popular picnic
spot and is specially known for
the 137 years old dock which extends
into the sea. The beach is also
famous for the lighthouse which
presents a captivating sight to
the visitors.

Pathiramanal:
This is a little island on the backwaters
and is equally popular among the
migratory birds as well as the tourists.

Thomas established seven churches
and the Champakulam Church is one

Chavara Bhavan:
It is situated about 6 km away from
Alappuzha and can be reached only

on the coast south of Alappuzha,12

Backwaters: Kuttanad
is the most scenic backwaters destination
in Kerala. A boat trip through Kuttanad
past the lively rural life on the
river banks, lush green paddy fields,

intricate maze of water bodies includes
lakes, canals, rivers and rivulets.
Snake boat races:
It is in Kuttanad where most of
the snake boat races of Alappuzha
are conducted. Held every year around
the time of the Onam festival, during
the race giant snake boats called
Chundanvalloms compete against each
other for the prestigious Nehru
Trophy, donated by former Prime
Minster of India, Pt. Jawaharlal
Nehru.
